Magnolia Ice Cream & Treats
About
A Taste of the Philippines in Waipahu
Stepping into Magnolia Ice Cream & Treats provides an instant escape to the tropics. The shop is a vibrant hub for those craving authentic Filipino-style desserts, characterized by bold colors and distinct floral and fruit notes. The air carries the faint, sweet scent of ube and jackfruit, greeting you the moment you walk through the door.
The Ube Experience
This spot is the local go-to for anything ube-related. The purple yam ice cream is the undeniable star here, known for its vibrant violet hue and smooth, earthy sweetness. If you want the full experience, order the Halo-Halo. It is a dense, colorful construction of shaved ice, evaporated milk, jellies, and tropical fruits that requires a bit of patience to stir properly before the first bite. The texture varies from crunchy to creamy, making it a favorite for families looking for a cooling snack after a day in the sun.
Local Atmosphere and Tips
Situated right in the heart of Waipahu, the shop serves as a casual gathering point for the community. The seating area is compact, keeping the focus entirely on the cold, sugary delights. Be prepared for a bit of a wait during peak afternoon hours, as the line can spill toward the door. While the parking lot can get tight, the reward of a refreshing Macapuno or Mango ice cream bar makes maneuvering the space worth the effort. It is an unpretentious, straightforward spot perfect for a quick afternoon pick-me-up or a post-dinner treat that captures the authentic spirit of Filipino dessert culture in Hawaii.

Located inside seafood city, this place serves a good variety of Filipino desserts. I love their selection of magnolia ice cream flavor. Ube halo halo was good and they were generous with toppings. Will recommend!

Fantastic halo halo. I did the popular mahalo halo and it hit the spot. On a hot summer day in Hawaii, you just cant go wrong. Do some shopping, grab some Filipino grills (I had the grilled squid with squash) and then halo halo on your way out.

2/15/2022 I haven't had Halo Halo from many places but I love it. My friends recommended Magnolia and I finally got a chance to try it today. So delicious! I ordered the regular Mahalo-Halo with strawberry ice cream. I picked strawberry since I hadn't tried any of the other flavors of ice cream and I didn't want to go with vanilla. The smiling lady made my order quickly and put it in a to-go bag with a spoon and napkins. The Mahalo-Halo was so yummy. I love the crispy rice on the top! Now all I have to do is get out of my comfort zone and try the other flavors of ice cream!
