L&L Hawaiian Barbecue - Waipahu (Ukee St)

The food is good, but the mac salad is inconsistent. When it's great, it's great. But when it's bad, it's bad. Tonight for whatever reason, I ordered the chicken katsu plate. The mac salad was watery and tasted like oil. The rice is always cooked perfectly, chicken katsu as usual. Who normally makes the mac salad there? Because whomever was making it around December of 2025, put them back to making it. I have no other complaints.

Their chicken katsu is so good. Not to mention, the sauce perfectly go with it that's why I always ask for extra.

Walked in to this L&L at 7:55 pm & looked at the menu for a few minutes with my family. Sign at the door says they close at 9:00 pm. We were looking to sit down & eat. We order our food right before 8:00 pm & I tell my kids to go sit down as my other half is paying. Once his payment goes through the lady tells us “oh you can’t sit down, there’s no dine in after 8:00 pm.” My kids were already sitting down and she waited till after we paid to tell us we couldn’t dine in. Terrible customer service. Won’t be coming back here again. Food was mediocre.

If you Google short ribs, that's not what you get when you order short ribs here. Be extremely careful when you order. You might walk out paying $50 for a single meal. It all tastes ok but I won't be going back.

Went before da lunch rush. Had the katsu curry special of day $12.99. Was big portions, but the curry sauce wasn't on the katsu (but they gave katsu sauce too). I asked the guy if can put curry on the katsu & he did! It was the counter girls first day & she didn't really have a trainer so took Lil long but I gave her a tip anyway bc she was just thrown in front & trying. Was so big I saved half my plate!

I got there about 815pm. Mind you they close at 9pm. They told me only fried food and take out only which I was find with. Counter lady was rude and made me hurry up to order. I was the only one there at that time. I got home and found out my food was slimy like it was spited on. Threw it away. Would post a pic but I don't want to gross people out. NEVER WOULD EAT THERE AGAIN!!!!!

Today's special beef curry with chicken katsu $11.99.

They give you massive portions and the food is really good. Two people could easily eat from an entrée. 4 Stars because the service was not great. The lady behind the counter seemed as though she was annoyed by us being there and offered ZERO assistance on the massive menu.

Love the portion sizes of this place. They stack it up high! And for around $13 for the mix combo, you really can't go wrong.
