Hashi Okazuya

First time here, came here since I heard the hamburger steak and noodles were good from a friend. Located in the Waipahu Festival Plaza Parking lot. Unfortunately the hamburger steak was sold out and they also ran out of mac salad but since i had already waited in line for a bit I asked the girl at the counter what she would recommend. She said the pork chops was popular, so i went with that plate lunch to go ($15.00). Looked forward to the lunch when i got home but was disappointed. Pork chops was sliced thin without flavor and dry, and the noodles was also dry without any taste too😥 Looks like they fry the noodles and then add the garnish of char siu/onion after the noodles is plated. Could have had a better meal at Leewards Drive Inn or Honolulu Kitchen but try everything once and support local...

Grew up loving Satos ! Then Mrs Sato sold her recipie to a new owner. I had high hopes and wanted to support local. But sadly I gave this place more chances than i should have. Maybe because i was hoping it would get better. The noodles are oily. There is nothing in the noodles or barely on top of it. The last 2 photos are from today and this is what its been like for at least the past few months. The first 2 photos are how it used to look like. And how we expect it to look like. Disappointing. Yet they raised their prices. Sad to see a legendary place go down. Why buy a business and recipie and do this to it. Wont be back.

Ever since my two favorite shops with fried noodles (Jurison's and Heights Drive-In) closed, I've been on the hunt to replicate that feeling. Its predecessor Sato's has been around for like ever, but I've never been in that area early enough to cash in. I swear I've tried going over half a dozen times but they're either closed or all sold out. Hashi's took over that space around March last year (2020) and I've heard good things. Finally, I had to take a mid morning trip to the dump nearby and spontaneously decided to drive by after. As luck would have it, they were open with no line but sold out of everything (more than an hour before closing mind you) with the exception of a large order of fried noodles, some chow fun, a piece of fried chicken and some cone sushi. So I basically took it all. Cone sushi was good as was the fried chicken. The Chow Fun was too salty (too much shoyu - you could literally see the brown streaks in the noodles). The fried noodles while good, didn't quite scratch the itch I had. It was interesting because they added some kind of char siu bits on top, which I've never seen before outside of a manapua. Overall a good experience and I will def be back. Maybe I'll wake up early and brave the line one day, but in no rush at this point.
