Freshness on the Move

Stepping into Genki Sushi in the Waikele Center is a quintessential lesson in efficiency. The space hums with the rhythmic mechanical clicks of the conveyor belt, a system that delivers plates directly from the kitchen to your booth. It is a high-energy environment, ideal for families or shoppers needing a quick refueling stop after browsing the nearby outlet stores.

A Taste of the Islands and Beyond

The menu focuses on a blend of traditional nigiri and creative, local-favorite fusion rolls. You will find staples like fresh ahi and salmon, but the real draw here is the variety of aburi-style options—lightly torched fish that adds a smoky char to the delicate sashimi. While the space can get quite busy during lunch hours, leading to a crowded entryway, the turnover is rapid. The sharp scent of seasoned rice vinegar greets you at the door, signaling that the kitchen is constantly rotating new batches of rolls.

Practical Dining in Waipahu

This Waipahu destination relies on a modern ordering interface, allowing diners to summon specific cravings via touchscreen. It removes the guesswork and ensures that even your most niche preferences arrive promptly. Keep in mind that the parking lot in this specific shopping complex is notoriously tight during weekends; arriving early is a local pro-tip to avoid the midday congestion. Whether you are grabbing a quick spicy tuna roll or settling in for a full progression of nigiri, the experience remains centered on speed, consistency, and the fun of watching your dinner navigate the track toward you.

This location has good staff and plenty of parking out front. Great sushi prices and relatively clean. The food comes quickly and tastes pretty fresh.

Terrible staff! Make the drive to another place. We got to the location at 11:00 on a Tuesday, and it was pretty dead when we arrived. The staff were on their phones and didn’t greet my wife and me. I scanned the QR code and waited for some time, which was fine, but when I tried to follow up with a worker, they told me to “hold on” and then walked away. I ended up waiting for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, people who arrived after me were being helped right away, though some of them were also forgotten. The staff seemed lethargic and unwilling to be helpful. Eventually, I asked what the hold-up was, but I was told to wait again to be seen—even though the staff didn’t appear to be doing anything. We were then forgotten again. We tried to remind them that we were there, but it felt like no one wanted to acknowledge us.I would not recommend this place and will never come back.

Food is pretty good and reasonable price but whatever you do don’t tip the servers don’t actually work other than to seat u a bring u drinks half the time a robot does it for them. Honestly at this point just replace the people with robots business would make a lot more money. If you hit the call button to try and get a refill or if you have an issue the people that work here will look at the screen seeing u pressed the call button and just walk around or continue to just chit chat. Don’t even know why they pay their employees at this point they don’t work. Customer service is absolutely trash instead of a smile and a welcome to genki you get an eye roll and why are u calling me look. If you come here you’re definitely just coming for decently priced sushi. They definitely do not work for their tip all the money should just go to whoever owns this place great idea just need to hire better people not snobby entitled teenagers.

We scanned the QR code at the main entrance to get in line and waited about 40 minutes for a table. Once seated, ordering was quick and easy using the QR code at our table and our phones. The food arrived on little trains, which was a fun touch. Everything we tried was delicious—especially the garlic salmon, garlic ebi, agedashi tofu, and the spicy mussels. Service was excellent, with staff frequently checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. We’re already looking forward to eating there again!

Food is good, however their restroom is a disaster. Urine everywhere smells bad, build up in urinals. Just makes me wonder about the cleanliness in the kitchen, knowing their Restroom for customers are in really bad shape. The experience is definitely ruined based on the cleanliness of this facility.

Second visit to this site. Arrived at about 6 PM on a Saturday; I'm not sure if anyone is ready for what I need to share—this sushi/Asian eatery has run out of rice. I could hardly believe it. We were on vacation, and I usually feel more forgiving and cheerful, but my main concern was that we placed our order via their electronic ordering system (app), and after 30 minutes without our food arriving on the belt, I inquired with a young waitress about the problem. She returned 5 minutes later to inform me that they had no rice left. She was somewhat apologetic, even when I mentioned that my 8-year-old was really hungry and that was all the child was anticipating. Nothing further occurred—no sincere apology or even a complimentary soda for the trouble caused. I am unsure if we will ever come back to this branch. Service was VERY SLOW. It appeared that there were more servers than chefs or cooks in the kitchen. Management must improve staffing management to achieve better balance. The delay is unacceptable. The AC at night is excessively cold and requires some adjustment.

It's been a while since coming to this location and to be completely honest, don't think I'll return after this visit. If you just want to be left alone not going to need assistance, refills, or have questions, maybe this suits you. The experience... Person who greeted us upon walking in was friendly and asked us to wait for just a bit to set up a table. We were seated within 5 minutes. She asked what we would like to drink, ordered 2 waters & 2 hot teas. When she brought those out to us I asked for a side of sauce since I know im unable to order that thru the digital menu. She said she would have it come to our table. Not what happened. Proceeded to order, received 9/10 items in ~10-15min. Also, if going towards closing, they might not have rice. Second order went in ~945 as they did a last call, everything received in about 5-10mins. We asked about the item missing from the original order, after being patient for almost 40 mins. What was sent out to us, completely half made order.

Solid spot for casual sushi. The food was fresh and consistently prepared—spam musubi was simple and satisfying, the tamago and shrimp nigiri were clean with well-seasoned rice, and the rolls were light and easy to enjoy. Service was quick and efficient, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable for a casual lunch. Not a high-end sushi experience, but reliable quality and a good place to grab a straightforward, no-frills meal.

One of my favorite Genki Sushi locations to go to. The menu always has something new and it’s always a hit, in this case, the Ramen selection was great. Not to mention they have good Japanese beer on hand.

Completely disappointed I been wanting to try this lacation for awhile and finally tried on the 12th, instead of waiting in traffic. You would think by the location it would be one of the higher end Genki's on oahu. The person gretting the door was great, no issues with him. The waitress was young, inexperienced but attentive, not a big deal either. The problem was the food... wth?! I had to send back the first item I received, little product and not made correctly. Second few items were easy fried items. Second attempted was a cali tempura role, no crab whatsoever inside. 3rd strike was the fried mushrooms. The mushrooms themselves were ok, but they were completely drench in kewpie. So much that I couldn't eat the 2/3rds that was left, completely disgusted. I had no issues with the food getting sent back, they took it off the bill. Maybe alI came at a bad day, new guy, or guy that new he was getting fired. Either way, I dont care to go back to that one.
