Costco (94-1231 Ka Uka Blvd)
About
A Waipahu Shopping Staple
Walking through the sliding glass doors at this Ka Uka Blvd hub, you are immediately greeted by the familiar, high-ceilinged expanse of bulk goods and oversized carts. This particular location serves as a primary supply line for families across Central Oahu, offering everything from massive flats of island-grown tropical fruits to those iconic bulk packs of Hawaiian sweet rolls. The air inside stays crisp, a welcome relief from the typical Waipahu humidity.
The Bulk-Buy Workflow
Navigating the aisles requires a bit of tactical patience, especially near the sample stations where crowds often congregate for a mid-shop snack. You will find the signature Costco warehouse experience here: pallets stacked floor-to-ceiling, a dedicated tire center humming with activity, and a gas station that remains one of the busiest spots in the region. If you are coming during the weekend, expect a brisk, energetic pace; the checkout lines move with impressive efficiency, even when they snake halfway through the aisles.
Quick Bites and Local Perks
Before leaving the lot, the food court is the final stop for many. The scent of hot pepperoni pizza and fresh churros fills the exit corridor. It is a no-frills environment designed for pure utility, ideal for restocking your pantry or grabbing a quick lunch before heading back onto the H-2 freeway. While the parking lot can be a labyrinth of activity during peak afternoon hours, the convenience of finding everything from bulk electronics to bulk ingredients under one roof makes it an essential stop for the West Oahu community.

Overall great. Today I signed up for a membership after having been with Sams Club for years, and getting tired of their product selection. Costco definitely offers more variety, and overall is higher quality. The staff I did interact with were overall nice and the store was clean, despite how busy it was. The reason I am giving a 4 star review, is that the checkout area is just a complete mess. Specifically, self checkout. First, there really isn’t any clear indicators where the line starts (lines on the ground would be nice so people know where to queue). For some reason, there’s tables full of stuff pretty much right in front of self checkout, and there is barely any space for people to wait for self checkout. The staff were pretty efficient with trying to manage it, there’s a lot of pretty obvious ways the stores management could just fix the problems in the first place, by moving the merchandise out of the way of self checkout, clear line/markings, etc. One of the reasons I held off on getting a Costco membership was due to the busyness of Costco, and the lack of scan and go. So this situation wasn’t exactly a great impression. I hope management actually reads this and fixes the issue with self checkout.

Great place to shop! except they NEED A BETTER VARIETY of ICE CREAM!!! Their section of ice cream is small! …I haven’t seen drumsticks in awhile, bubbies mochi ice cream, HC fudge bars, and a lot of others are missing! Not to good of a selection!!

We were visiting Hawaii and decided to stop off on some necessities for our vacation. I loved that they had tons of sunscreen, bathing suits, sun hat, and even a boogie board. That was a better deal to buy it here then rent one.

I just moved from Maui and I'm used to the Maui costco. Google maps took me right to the closest Costco here on Oahu. The store layout is a little different but I found everything I need was able to check out quickly even though the store was crowded. It was a great experience

Great customer service by a Supervisor named Ryan G at self checkout! I was purchasing a single item at self checkout, and was told by another employee to go to the back of the line which I was unaware of where the line started. Supervisor Ryan G saw I only had one item and proceeded to escort me to pay for this single item at the front! Saved me plenty of time for my single item. Great customer service!

The waipio warehouse has a massive parking lot. Parking was easy to find. The building was clean & neat not overly crowded. There was a lot of carts upfront and a worker was nice enough to grab me a cart. They had a few items I couldn't find at my local warehouse which was nice. Checking out was a breeze as the cashier was friendly.

Costco Wholesale is always packed no matter what day or time you go. The parking lot feels like a competitive sport and the lines can stretch far into the frozen food aisle. Self checkout definitely helps but you still need patience and good cart control skills. I go in for a couple of things and somehow leave with a cart full and a $600 receipt every single time. It is honestly impressive how fast it adds up. That said the value still feels worth it once you look at what you actually bought. One of the best parts is the selection. There are tons of items you do not usually see at mainland Costco locations which makes shopping feel a little more fun and unique. Snacks sauces seafood and local favorites somehow all find their way into the cart. Crowded loud and expensive in the moment but still hard to beat. Costco is chaos with benefits and I keep coming back for more.

The Strategy: This is the smartest stop you can make on your way back to Waikiki. Souvenirs: We stopped here to buy chocolate (likely Hawaiian Host or Mauna Loa macadamias) to take home. The prices here are significantly better than the tourist shops in Waikiki. Gas: It’s also the perfect place for a gas refill before returning your rental car or parking it for the night. The Experience: It was a nice stop—efficient and practical. You get the cheap gas and the souvenir shopping done in one go. Verdict: Don't buy your chocolates at the airport! Stop here on your drive back into town and save the money.

Mornings are best, parking is easy, lines are short. Otherwise it’s a fairly busy Costco these days especially weekends and holidays. Parking can be tough, gas lines can get long, and inside Costco can be a very busy place with long lines. Staff is very helpful and you can’t beat the prices though you’ll be buying mostly bulk style.
