Wings and Thangs Comfort Food
About
A Taste of Soul in Lahaina
When you find yourself craving straightforward, no-nonsense comfort food while exploring the west side of Maui, Wings and Thangs offers a refreshing departure from the typical tourist-heavy menus. This spot captures the laid-back spirit of the island, focusing on bold flavors and satisfying portions that hit the spot after a long day under the sun.
Crispy, Saucy, and Savory
The kitchen specializes in wings that strike the right balance between a satisfyingly crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. While the wings are the namesake attraction, the menu leans into a variety of soul-warming sides that make it a favorite for locals grabbing a quick, heavy meal. Expect the scent of spiced frying oil and tangy barbecue sauce to greet you the moment you step up to the window or counter.
The Local Hangout Vibe
This is not a white-tablecloth establishment; it is a functional, casual eatery designed for those who prioritize taste over formality. The atmosphere is unpretentious and buzzing with the casual energy of Lahaina residents. It is an ideal stop for beachgoers who aren’t looking to get dressed up or wait for a reservation. Keep in mind that seating can be limited, and the quick-service pace means you might find yourself balancing your tray while snagging a spot at a nearby table. It’s that kind of humble, high-flavor environment where the food does the heavy lifting, making it a reliable fixture in the local Lahaina dining circuit.

This place hit the spot after a rocky trip with long waits, and terrible weather. We went on a day when most places were closed. It was packed, but we found a table. We enjoyed the chicken katzu. Very generous portions. Picture isn’t complete of all the chicken you get! Picky son had French fries & edamame and was happy. There was no ketchup. They were accommodating for peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergy. Daughter’s salmon was a little dry. Husband did not know what he was ordering with lau lau, so was surprised by cabbage (?). Get the chicken katzu and you’ll be happy. We even went back a second time.

Very authentic plate lunch. I came here several times in the week, the food was better than the luah I attended. The atmosphere is definitely not fine dining, but that of a short order burger joint. We had Kaluah pork, and Korean BBQ everytime we ate there, although everything else we saw looked good. I got all Mac salad and had enough food for 2 meals, and no microwave rice was nice.

For a fast food place w reasonable prices ranging from $10 - $18, it’s very good says the Ox. Fresh and lots of good sticky Asian rice. Salad was good. Pork w cabbage was very good. The lau lau pork wrapped up in a leaf and steamed was dry, and there was a lot of fatty meat. For a quick bite and generous portions this is a very decent place. Just the seats are very hard and uncomfortable.
