About
Island Staples and Local Flavor in Kahana
When you are navigating the winding coastal roads of West Maui, Tradewinds Kahana Grocery serves as a vital pit stop for residents and visitors alike. Far from the polished tourist traps, this corner store provides a grounded look at daily life between Lahaina and Kapalua. The air inside is consistently crisp from the industrial coolers, a welcome relief from the relentless Pacific sun hitting the shoreline just steps away.
The Quick Fuel You Need
Beyond the standard rack of sunscreen and beach towels, the store excels at keeping the neighborhood fed with reliable grab-and-go options. You will find shelves stocked with local favorites, from bags of Maui-grown snacks to cold beverages perfect for a picnic at nearby Pohaku Park. It is the kind of place where the screen door chimes a rhythmic greeting every few minutes, reflecting a steady flow of surfers and families stocking up for the day.
Practical Island Convenience
The space is functional and efficient, favoring utility over flair. While the aisles are compact and the parking lot can get tight during peak morning rushes, the convenience of finding exactly what you need without crossing into the heavy traffic of downtown Lahaina is unmatched. Whether you are hunting for specific ingredients for a beach-side barbecue or just need a quick cold brew to keep the momentum going, this Kahana fixture delivers with a straightforward, no-nonsense approach. It is an honest slice of Maui commerce that prioritizes accessibility for anyone exploring the northern coast of the island.

Good little grocery with usually more reasonable prices than ABC or Whalers General Store (the worst). It’s still a convenience store, so not exactly cheap but reasonable. Decent selection of stuff and you can mix/match soda and get a six pack price. I own a place nearby and if I need something quick I go here. Nice people too.

Vacationing here from Oahu, I thought this would be a liquor store with a few dismal high-priced sundries. I was delighted to find quality groceries and excellent prices (for example Chobani yogurt $1.60 a cup). Great local groceries too (we liked the brown eggs like I get from my cousin). Plus there’s a very impressive and economical selection of “medicine cabinet” items. As a memento I purchased a charming little Hono to hold toothpicks for pot lucks.

Aloha! We came next door to miso phat sushi and we were told we could byob to this establishment what a nice touch! I really liked this option. We got two drinks and went back to our lunch to miso phat sushi while our other drinks and food were awaiting us. Thanks for the added byob option , Mahalo!
