Dinner and a Show on Maui's West Side

Teppan-Yaki Dan brings high-energy, interactive dining to the heart of Lahaina. Positioned within the refined surroundings of the Sheraton Maui, this venue turns dinner into a performance. You aren't just ordering a meal; you are watching skilled chefs slice, sear, and flip premium cuts of steak and fresh local seafood directly onto the hot iron grill in front of you.

The Culinary Performance

The menu leans into classic hibachi-style preparation, with signature offerings including buttery lobster tails and center-cut filets. The scent of garlic butter and sizzling ginger fills the room, cutting through the cooler coastal air. It is the kind of place designed for celebrations or family gatherings where the clatter of spatulas and the roar of the grill fire keep the energy levels high throughout the night.

A Local Tip for Your Visit

While the service is precise and the flavors are reliable, keep in mind that the resort atmosphere can get quite bustling during peak sunset hours. Because of the popularity of the oceanfront location, the valet area can become a bit congested, so arriving slightly early allows you to enjoy a pre-dinner stroll along the Ka'anapali coastline before heading to your grill station. The dining room balances the technical precision of Japanese preparation with a relaxed island aesthetic, making it an excellent choice for those who want a memorable meal without the formality of a traditional white-tablecloth establishment.

My experience at Teppanyaki Dan at the Sheraton Maui turned into a serious safety issue. On June 3, 2026, I suffered significant burn injuries from soup that was served at an extremely high temperature, requiring an emergency room visit later that evening. While the spill itself may have been accidental, food served at a temperature capable of causing burns severe enough to require medical treatment raises serious concerns about customer safety. What was most disappointing was the response afterward. I did not feel that the severity of my injuries was taken seriously, despite the fact that I required emergency medical care. The injury caused considerable pain and significantly impacted the remainder of my family vacation, preventing me from fully participating in activities and enjoying the trip I had traveled to Hawaii to experience. I hope management takes a closer look at its food temperature practices and how customer injuries are handled so that no other guest has to go through a similar experience.

Very fun evening with Chef Randall. Food was well seasoned. I could have stopped at the vegetables they were so tasty. More than enough food and a nice experience.

decent service, slight above average American style teppan yaki place, do. Do not upgrade your rice to it's garlic fried rice, they simply put too much garlic and lack of other flavours, it's not taste fried rice and not worth it's 11 dollars upgrade price

Staff - Great. Our chef was wonderful. Food - Bruh, what’s wrong with flavor? Not trying to be mean at all, genuine comparison. I felt McDonald’s had more flavor and quality. Ended up throwing away most of the food. Really want you guys to be successful, please fix the food quality issue

Absolutely terrible experience here. We had a guest at our table with a severe nut allergy. She made a visible face of fear when her nut free food nearly touched nut containing food and our chef mocked her for it. Never been so disappointed by humanity in my life. In addition to this. - the food tasted terrible & soaked in oil - the chef left the hot grill on after he finished cooking to blow smoke into our faces - we saw no classic teppanyaki tricks beyond the onion volcano DO NOT EAT HERE

We showed up 10 mins late for our reservation. Big mistake, or was it? Hostess couldn’t have been ruder. “You’re late” she greeted us. Yes, I replied with a sigh and smile we got lost trying to find our way through the property. She says ok well let me see if they can still accommodate you. We follow we over to the closed door and are ordered to wait while she checks with the chef. Nope, we are quickly turned away but not before she got a few more gabs in. First we were told we should’ve heeded the text (never sent through open table) that we needed to be ON time. Seems they only have a 5 min grace policy. Also, we were told that we should’ve valeted the car and not walked from our hotel next door. All this is so curious as I had to reach out to the restaurant twice the day before the reservation and none of this was mentioned in advance. The hostess staff could not have been more dismissive, condescending, or rude. We’ve always loved the Sheraton and LOVE teppan-yaki this place was set to be a home run but we left to find a restaurant who wanted our business. Easy enough these days. 3 min walk to Maui brew co we had a lovely dinner with view. I’d avoid this place.

Great experience. Shared dinner with some great people from all places. Chef R. was great and prepared everything to perfection. Teriyaki chicken was flavorful, highly recommend. A few of us shared food, so I would also recommend the ribeye and sirloin. I am not a huge fan of lobster but I did try it. I liked it, not enough to order it, but the lady I shared with did say it was excellent. Overall I would give it a try!

Went to the restaurant while in Hawaii for vacation. The hibachi was a great experience. Both the food and service were good.

We loved this experience. It is like any other hibachi table but with an extra touch of fun with a group. We quickly became friends with everyone around the table and loved the atmosphere. Our chef was so fun, inclusive and loved joining in on our conversations. Food options were incredible!!

We had Randall as our chef. He was very entertaining and the food was delicious. He was the only person at the resort that acknowledged our honeymoon so that was very nice! Wish we could have gotten an early dining time. 8:45 pm was 2:45 am our time.
