A Mediterranean Escape in the Heart of Lahaina

Located right along the bustling Front Street corridor, ROCKsalt brings a distinct Mediterranean flair to the Lahaina dining scene. As you step inside, the open-air layout invites the trade winds, allowing the scent of sea salt to mingle with the aroma of wood-fired flatbreads and garlic-heavy mezze. It is an ideal spot for travelers looking to escape the heavy grease of typical tourist fare in favor of something lighter and more vibrant.

The Kitchen's Philosophy

Chef-driven and ingredient-forward, the kitchen focuses on communal dining. The menu encourages passing plates, which makes this an excellent choice for groups or couples who want to sample a bit of everything. The signature roasted beet salad and the lamb meatballs are standouts, often prepared with locally sourced herbs that provide an unexpected brightness. The soundscape here is lively, shifting from the rhythmic crashing of the nearby surf to the upbeat chatter of locals and visitors alike.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

While the atmosphere is breezy and welcoming, be prepared for the reality of Lahaina parking; you will likely spend a few extra minutes circling nearby lots or walking a few blocks to reach the entrance. Once you are seated, the service is generally quick, though the acoustics can get quite boisterous when the restaurant hits peak capacity around sunset. It is loud, unapologetically social, and deeply connected to the energy of West Maui.

We really enjoyed our stay. Resort is luxurious and while it’s not brand new the staff is great and the resort feels upscale. Beachfront rooms close to black rock are amazing and the view from balcony is worth the cost. They do happy hour by the pool during the day. Resort feels safe, extremely close to the beach and they provide towels. Parking is $40 kinda expensive but the first night they give to you for free. We would come back

Recently stayed for 5 nights and overall had a great experience. As a Titanium I was upgraded using a NUA to a ground level ocean view Ohana suite which was great for my young family of 5 being near everything and being able to watch the luau from the room. Due to the renovation of the breakfast area we were offered a free hot buffet breakfast for my wife and I and only had to pay for my son who was older than 5. The property and location is beautiful but it could use some updating. The furniture and carpet is very worn, the bathroom could use a refresh but overall it was clean and we didn’t spend much time in there honestly. The pool is beautiful but its not heated and honestly could use a real water slide like most other Marriott properties on Maui have. The resort fee felt a bit steep especially since there really weren’t any activities and useless water bottles. The only legitimate one was making leis but that was really limited to 15 people and only offered one day we were there. Additionally the money grab for parking like many other properties is absurd especially with a resort fee on top of everything and being Titanium (which used to make it free). Overall great location very helpful staff but likely will try the Westin next time.

My wife and I had an excellent trip to the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa for our babymoon. Our five nights were amazing, and we have no critical marks against this resort. While some might think it’s dated or doesn’t have as nice of amenities as other resorts on the island, we believe they are missing out on a sacred gem of Maui. Everything about the resort runs smoothly, is clean, and is effortlessly relaxed. We enjoyed the food options and the poolside drinks were amazing as well. Our room had a great view of the resort and ocean with a very comfy bed and with excellent AC. We were very grateful for daily cleaning too. This resort is well priced too. Most importantly, the beach is one of the best in the island. Shaped into the sacred black rock, the snorkeling around the rock is some of the best in the island. It was also fun to see so many enjoying the cliff diving spots. Lastly, if you are wanting to melt into Hawaiian bliss, you must enjoy the evening sunset ritual at the Sheraton. It blends in beautifully so you might miss it. But every night, there is a dive of the black rock that is accompanied by explanation of the sacred tradition. Following the dive, you can melt away listening to traditional Hawaiian music and hula by the pool while watching the sun beautifully drop behind the island of Lanai. We even saw a rainbow and many whales during the sunset! Truly, this is a special evening ritual that I hope the Sheraton Maui never gets rid of. All in all, we highly recommend this resort! I know my wife and I will be back.

Anyone reviewing best snorkel sites on Maui will have Black Rock in their top 3. And it should be. This hotel is in the best location. Nice, swimmable beach with easy and great snorkeling. We also loved the walk to Whaler’s Village. …

It had been a few years since we had been to the Sheraton and we read a lot of reviews before our arrival. As Bonvoy members we used the app regularly and the Hotel staff was extremely responsive to the little things we needed in our room etc. Yes, the hotel is old and classic, it’s been here a long time. Good to lower the expectations and enjoy the incredible location and surroundings. Definitely rooms are dated but clean. The surroundings outside need attention. Worth staying here though.

The ocean view at Sheraton Maui is absolutely amazing and was the highlight of our stay. The grounds are beautiful, and the location is hard to beat. However, I found the rooms to be somewhat dated, small for the price, and in need of updating. Unfortunately, what really impacted my overall impression was an incident that occurred after checkout. Within about two hours of leaving the hotel, we realized that I had accidentally left a bracelet and necklace in the room safe. We immediately contacted the hotel and were told by security that the safe was still locked but that there was nothing inside. Because these items were valuable and held sentimental value, I changed my flight plans and returned to the hotel in an effort to locate them. Despite being told that nothing was in the safe, I remained concerned and contacted hotel management and also filed a report with the Maui Police Department. Only after these additional steps were taken was I informed that the bracelet and necklace had in fact been found. While I am grateful that the items were ultimately recovered, the conflicting information and the stress, time, and expense caused by changing my travel plans significantly undermined my trust in the hotel's handling of guest belongings. Being told that a locked safe was empty, only to later learn that the items were found, was frustrating and difficult to understand. The stunning views and location were memorable, but this experience overshadowed the positives. If you stay here, I strongly recommend double-checking the contents of your safe before checking out. Based on my experience, I would not feel comfortable relying on the hotel's safe or lost-and-found process.

I came to Maui and stayed at the Sheraton for a conference. My husband tagged along as well and spent most of his time golfing at the golf course adjacent to the hotel which was well maintained and really convenient! But we had the absolute best stay. We were here before check in time due to my conference starting at 8 AM. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating especially Evelyn who really went above and beyond to make our stay great! When they found we would not be able to check into our assigned room early they ended up upgrading us to a suite for the length of our stay at no extra cost and we were able to check in for that room by 10 AM! On top of this the view from both our room and the lobby were just outstanding. We saw multiple whales all throughout the day and even dolphins! The food was also great and the bar staff was attentive. I was able to go snorkeling right at the resort and rent a snorkel set with fins for 22 dollars for the whole day. It is just a short walk from the Whaler Village for shopping and other fun restaurants. We would absolutely love to come back!!

This was our first time in Maui and the Sheraton did not disappoint! Friendly faces all around, accommodating of any requests with room service readily available. Upon arrival you’ll be greeted by valet ( it is extra but a nice luxury if you want spurge, first night is free) otherwise you can do self parking. The entrance is gorgeous with a main lobby overlooking the ocean ( black rock + pool and landscape). Our building was clean and well maintained- easy to find the room however the floors can get a little tricky sometimes due to their structure. Our room was spotless and clean with enough towels and amenities for my group of 4! Beds were doubles but wide enough if shared. One nuance is that the tap water and the water fountain dispensers had an unpleasant taste to it- definitely something we noticed in general on the island so highly suggest buying water bottles at the local Safeway. Other that that, amazing stay with ocean front view! Lots of whales too
