About
A Sweet Escape on Front Street
Stepping into Lahaina Gelato feels like finding a cooling oasis amidst the sun-drenched pace of West Maui. The air inside is thick with the scent of freshly pressed waffle cones and the deep, sugary aroma of slow-churned cream. It is a no-frills spot, designed for those who want a quick, high-quality indulgence while strolling past the historic banyan trees of Lahaina town.
Handcrafted Scoops with Tropical Flair
While the technique here is rooted in Italian tradition, the flavor profile embraces the island. You will find rows of vibrant, artisanal gelato that favor local ingredients over artificial additives. The texture is notoriously dense and silky, a direct contrast to the icy, airy consistency of standard American ice cream. Beyond the classics like stracciatella and pistachio, look for rotating seasonal selections that feature Maui-grown fruit.
The Local Experience
This is the kind of place where locals queue up after a day at the beach. Be prepared for a bit of a squeeze; the space is compact, and during the peak sunset hour, the sidewalk outside gets quite lively. It is the perfect stop for families looking for a treat that feels premium without the white-tablecloth pretense. If you struggle with the decision-making process, the staff is usually happy to let you sample a flavor before committing. Grab a double scoop, step back out onto the bustling thoroughfare, and enjoy your treat before the Maui heat gets the best of it.

Best-tasting gelato on Maui so far, with a wonderful selection of unique and delicious flavors. Everything we've tried has been consistently excellent, and the service is very friendly, and attentive. We especially enjoyed “Aunty” Kim’s warm and genuine Aloha spirit and her recommendations on flavors. We've already gone back four times, which says a lot. One small suggestion: for the three-scoop option, the cup feels a bit too small, which causes the gelato to drip over the sides. It would be helpful if the larger cup size could better match the number of scoops, similar to other ice cream shops. Overall, the flavors and service are fantastic, and this has quickly become one of our favorite spots.

5/5 for the gelato. Great flavor variety. We tried the guava, coconut macadamia, and the key lime. Good blend of local flavors and original flavors. There’s also shaved ice options or boba. They sell chips and a variety of bottled water or juices. Also, dole whip! The prices are on par with the touristy town. The indoor seating atmosphere while nice (there were 2 tables), which actually were both dirty. Maybe more of a take out spot!

A good place for gelato. I tried a large cup with 3 flavors - Kona mud, Dubai Chocolate, and Pistachio. They are all delicious. Not too creamy and not too sweet. The Kona Mud is my favorite. Very flavorful milk coffee with chocolate bits. The gelato was so soft almost like a soft serve. They also serve shaved ice 🍨🍦. The service is very good. The servers are cheerful. Highly recommended.
