A Taste of Home in West Maui

Tucked away from the typical tourist thoroughfares of Lahaina, Kusina Ni Jayboy serves as a grounded, flavor-packed hub for traditional Filipino cuisine. The atmosphere here is refreshingly unpretentious, defined by the clinking of plates and the rich, savory aroma of slow-simmered stews that greets you the moment you walk through the door.

The Filipino Comfort Classics

Chef Jayboy crafts a menu that feels like a family gathering. You will find staples like savory pork adobo and crispy pata that deliver deep, salt-and-acid profiles. The portions are substantial and served with a side of island-style hospitality. It is the perfect spot for locals looking for a quick, hearty meal that hits the spot without the fuss of white-tablecloth service.

What to Expect

The space is functional and modest, focusing entirely on what’s on the plate rather than the interior design. If you visit during peak lunch hours, be prepared for a bit of a buzz as the local crowd packs in, and remember that parking in this part of town requires a bit of patience. It is this authentic, busy energy that makes the experience feel genuine. Whether you are craving the comfort of classic comfort food or looking to explore the depth of Filipino cooking, this Lahaina eatery offers a direct connection to time-honored recipes.

One of the food trucks in the Maika’i market in the Maui Mall Village and possibly my favourite meal in Maui. Food is made to order so the pork was crispy, juicy and so tender. The fresh onion, tomato, and vinegar dipping sauce balanced the pork’s richness and fattiness beautifully. The people running it are friendly and clearly care that they are serving great food. Huge portion too - it served as both lunch and dinner! Would love to go back and try more things.

It's real hard to find Filipino food where I live so we had to get some food here. I had the grilled pompano, which took a while because they grilled it to order, but MAN it was SO GOOD. Flakey and crispy with that addicting smokey grill flavor. Paired with the fresh tomato and onion, it was a cycle of delicious-ness. Bite of grilled fish, bite of fresh tomato/onion, rinse & repeat. Add in a bite of rice to reset. My aunt got the crispy pork belly loco moco. The gravy goes real well with the lechon kawali, but it IS a really heavy meal. She was only able to eat about 1/3 of the plate, so it's great if you want leftovers! The Simply Local shop next door is a nice place to kill time while you wait for your food.

The crispy pork belly with onion and tomatoes was prepared to perfection. The fresh onion and tomatoes set it off perfectly along with the sauces. We got an order of vegi lumpia that was also fantastic. The wait made it worth it. Lady next to us said her bbq skewers were so good yesterday she came back today.
