A Taste of Maui Soul

Located within the Napili Shores Maui, Joey's Kitchen brings the comfort of high-end Hawaiian culinary traditions to a relaxed, open-air setting. Founded by Chef Joey Macadangdang, the restaurant serves as a tribute to his multi-cultural upbringing, blending local island flavors with Filipino influences. You will notice the savory scent of garlic chicken drifting across the property, a signature staple that draws a constant stream of both locals and visitors.

Island Casual Dining

The space is built for those who appreciate a laid-back Maui afternoon. Expect to hear the clatter of plates against the backdrop of rustling palms near Napili Bay. It is the perfect spot for a post-beach lunch where you can trade your sandy flip-flops for a plate of Miso-Yaki Butterfish or their famous Loco Moco. While the interior is cozy and compact, the energy is consistently upbeat.

A Note on the Napili Experience

Keep in mind that this is a popular hub for residents, so finding a table during peak lunch hours can occasionally require a short wait. The setup is unfussy, favoring authentic taste over elaborate décor. Whether you are grabbing a quick takeout order to eat on the nearby beach or settling in for a full meal, the food focuses on bold, unpretentious ingredients that highlight the culinary heritage of Lahaina. It’s an essential stop for anyone craving honest, flavorful comfort food without the pretense of a formal resort dining room.

We've been to Napili several times and this was the first time our availability aligned with Joey's Kitchen. Our experience with the Shrimp Pancit was amazing. While the Pancit noodles were thicker than we are used to, the fact they are made in-house, overshadowed the comparison. We enjoyed their drinks: Tee Tome Dr. Phillippino Both were delicious and not overly sweet. I definitely recommend visiting Joey's Litchen if you get the chance

Pork Adobo Fried Rice at Joey’s Kitchen is a standout choice. This isn't just a side dish it’s a full-flavored meal that hits all the right nostalgic notes. The hallmark of a great Adobo is the delicate dance between vinegar and soy sauce, and this fried rice executes that balance beautifully. The rice is deeply seasoned, infused with the punch of toasted garlic and the warmth of cracked black pepper. It avoids being overly salty or too acidic instead, the vinegar provides a bright tang that cuts through the richness of the pork. It delivers that genuine "Filipino flavor" without compromise. Freshly chopped green onions add a necessary crunch and a bit of sharpness to every bite. It’s a hearty, filling bowl that feels like a home-cooked meal in the best way possible.

Delicious food, excellent seasoning and sauce and very fresh quality. Portion size was a little small considering the price. The two of us shared the Furikake Seared Ahi for $32 and it was delicious! We dined here later on a Monday evenjng in the middle of April around 7 pm and the place was relatively packed considering its off season and a Monday night. We decided to take two spots at the bar since seating was not available and they close at 8 pm so we slightly crunched for time. I will admit the bar seating was nice and the bar stools had back support which is greatly appreciated! I imagine this place gets swamped in the weekends and throughout the summer. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant and also advise getting here early or try to make a reservation if possible, especially if you’re with a party greater than two. Bathrooms available.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you’re looking for incredible local flavors with a creative twist, Joey’s Kitchen is an absolute must-visit! We had an amazing experience from start to finish. The breakfast burrito was hearty and packed with flavor, and the fried brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy with a delicious seasoning that made them totally addictive. The fish tacos were fresh and light, while the garlic chicken was rich, savory, and cooked to perfection. And the shrimp pansit—wow—full of bold flavors and easily one of our favorites of the trip. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of that authentic island comfort-food vibe. You can really tell there’s passion behind the menu. Located in Napili, this spot is part of an exciting lineup from the same chef behind Kahului’s Balai Pata, which is also fantastic. Even more exciting—there’s a new concept called Dang Dang Noodle opening soon in the same Napili shopping center, and we can’t wait to try it! Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Maui—we’ll definitely be back next time! 🌺. @Joey’s Kitchen @joeyskitchenatbalaipata #omahafoodie #mauifood #mauihawaii #foodreview #hawaiifoodie

The cocktail amazing! The adobo pork was good. The garlic chicken was fried chicken drizzled with sauce, not for me. Good portion and quick service! Must try.

What a find! Joey's kitchen is the place to go. We sat at the bar, just wanting a quick drink while ordering, and we ended up staying for dinner. The seared ahi was just out of this world and the homemade pepper water was a delightful accompaniment. We also had the Shrimp Pansit with homemade noodles, again delightful. The cocktails were well made by Monica who was so informative on all the local produce that went into making our dining experience truly Hawai'ian. You really must look past the bench tables and chalkboard menus... and visit Joey's anyway. I hope you will have a memorable experience like we had. If we were staying longer, we would be back for sure!

Brilliant food, best cocktails we've had on the island. If you like peat at all, ask for the Isley Time. Invented by the bartender, Iz, it is one of the best cocktails I've had. The vibe is lovely, dine in or take away, eat indoors or outdoors. Accessibility parking right in front.

Was highly recommended to come check the place out by a lot of tourists and part-timers - and after spending months on Maui I finally came to try it out on a gloomy, slow day. Unfortunately the short ribs were out so we tried the garlic chicken and pork adobo fried rice - both have been highly recommended. The garlic chicken had a solid flavor profile, but I couldn’t get past the chicken being pretty chewy and most importantly; the batter was still powdery in many spots. Every piece was like this not just a couple, so unfortunately I didn’t eat it all. The Mac salad was completely flavorless and lifeless. The adobo fried rice, which I’ve had numerous times all around the Philippines - was completely lacking… pork…adobo… picture is as brought to table and we did find a couple 2 tiny pieces of flavorful pork in there - no exaggeration, two… so sadly the mixture of tough dense and hard rice wasn’t worth it for us this time. Left pretty unsatisfied. Not sure that I would give it another go personally but some people say they get great luck over and over, so maybe you will too? Roll of the dice

Incredible incredible Filipino food. Hands down one of the best lumpia, crispy pasta, garlic shrimp, and garlic chicken I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and eat here ASAP. It’s def worth the trip. This is one of the best meals I’ve had on the island. Mabuhay!
