About
A Fresh Coastal Take on Lahaina Classics
Tucked away from the heavy tourist traffic of Front Street, ElBlueFishTacos brings a casual, no-frills energy to the Lahaina food scene. This is the kind of spot where you show up in board shorts, sand still clinging to your feet, looking for a plate that honors the local catch. The open-air setup means you’ll often hear the distant hum of the Pacific while you wait for your order at the counter.
The Catch of the Day
The menu centers entirely on simplicity and the quality of the local fish. You aren't coming here for fancy fusion; you’re coming for blackened mahi-mahi tacos that balance a crisp, peppery sear with a cool, citrus-forward slaw. The corn tortillas are griddled just enough to hold their shape against the generous portion of fish. If you’re a fan of spice, their house-made habanero crema hits with a sharp, immediate brightness that cuts through the richness of the catch.
What to Expect When You Visit
The atmosphere is strictly unpretentious. It’s an ideal stop for a quick lunch after a morning session in the surf or an early dinner when you want to avoid the evening reservation rush. A small word of advice: seating is limited and communal, and the afternoon sun can be intense, so don’t be surprised if you end up perched on a stool in the shade with a chilled drink in hand. It’s a local favorite precisely because it doesn’t try to be anything other than a solid, honest spot for fresh fish in West Maui.

Amazing fish tacos! Some of the best we have had on the islands. The 5 star rating this restaurant has is well deserved. They have a bunch of sauces to choose from as well. The carne asada and birria tacos were good as well. But the fish tacos are a must here!

Fish Tacos El Blue is one of those rare finds that reminds you why food trucks can completely outshine oceanfront restaurants. This family-operated gem at Olowalu Village, perfectly located between the airport and the Kaʻanapali resorts, serves some of the most flavorful, satisfying food we had on the island. The fish tacos are outstanding — fresh, perfectly cooked, and boldly seasoned without overpowering the quality of the seafood. Every bite tastes intentional and made with care. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the quality easily rivals (and honestly surpasses) many expensive beachfront spots nearby. What truly elevates El Blue is the heart behind it. You can feel the pride and warmth of a family business that genuinely cares about what they serve and the people they serve. No gimmicks, no inflated prices — just incredible food and real aloha. Worth every penny. A must-stop on Maui. We would come back in a heartbeat.

This place was a 10/10. The quality of the ingredients, the freshness, and flavorful dishes makes this the perfect lunch spot. There is no surprise why this place has 5 star ratings all around. Our party of two shared two Baja shrimp tacos and one Chicali burrito and the portions were generous enough to leave us satisfied. The homemade salsa bar was the cherry on top to add to the already delicious dishes. This place is located right off the side of the road, but it is worth making a stop or even going out of your way to try it. The lady at the counter was friendly as well.
