Drums of the Pacific Luau
About
A Sunset Tradition on Maui’s West Shore
As the sun dips below the horizon in Lahaina, the Drums of the Pacific Luau transforms the oceanfront grounds of the Hyatt Regency into a rhythmic celebration of Polynesian culture. This isn't just dinner; it’s an immersive showcase of Pacific Island heritage, featuring authentic dance performances that trace the history of Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, and Samoa.
Feast and Firelight
The scent of roasted kalua pork and teriyaki beef wafts through the open-air venue as the buffet lines open. Guests enjoy traditional island staples including fresh island fish, tropical fruits, and purple sweet potatoes. The centerpiece of the evening is the fire-knife dance, where performers maneuver flaming blades with precision that leaves the audience breathless. The rhythmic thrum of the drums carries across the beach, creating a pulse that resonates through the entire event.
What to Expect
The seating is arranged in a tiered amphitheater style, ensuring that every guest gets a clear view of the stage, though you should arrive early if you want to snag a spot closest to the action. It is a high-energy environment, perfect for families and first-time visitors to Maui who want a quintessential luau experience. While the energy is electric, be prepared for a lively, loud atmosphere—this is a performance-heavy production where quiet conversation takes a backseat to the storytelling unfolding on stage. Whether you are sipping a complimentary Mai Tai or learning the history of the hula, the experience captures the spirit of Lahaina’s coastal charm in a single, memorable night.

I wholeheartedly recommend it, especially if you're visiting Maui for the first time. The entire family had a wonderful time and savored every moment. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was a joy no to see a pig on display. It truly made our experience special!

Who doesn't love a dinner and a show? Great food and a great show highlighting traditional the culture of the Pacific Islands though song dance and of course food. Very pricey especially with the VIP seating but so worth it. AYCE style buffet and drinks (cocktails and other beverages included. No extra surcharge.) Made my last evening in Maui more memorable.

watched the Luau show last night with my daughter and we had VIP seating at table 17. It truly felt like a VIP experience since we were the only ones at a long table. The service and food were fantastic, and the show was absolutely spectacular. I really appreciated that the dancers came in all shapes and sizes, not just the typical “perfect curves,” but a variety of beautiful body types. I especially had fun watching the male dancers—they could shake just as well as the women! The entire performance was highly entertaining, and the scenic setting made the night even more special. I highly recommend booking your Luau here for a memorable experience
