Porky's Kaua'i
About
A Masterclass in Hawaiian Hog
Tucked away near the sunny south shore, Porky's Kaua'i is the kind of roadside find that ruins fast food for you forever. It is not about fancy tablecloths or polished silverware; it is about the smell of hickory smoke drifting through the Koloa morning air and the sound of a cleaver hitting a wooden board.
The Slow-Roasted Craft
This is a shrine to the pig. Chef-driven and uncompromising, the menu centers on slow-roasted pork that falls apart at the mere suggestion of a fork. The signature pork sausage, seasoned with a secret blend of local spices, is consistently the main event. You will notice the rich, caramelized edges of the meat—a clear sign that they actually take the time to render the fat down properly, unlike the rushed output of typical tourist-heavy spots.
Local Character
Be warned: the seating is purely functional. You are likely eating your lunch while standing or perched on a basic picnic bench under the bright Kauai sun. Parking is a bit of a localized puzzle, so have a little patience as you navigate the gravel lot. It feels authentic because it is—this is where the island locals go when they want something savory, filling, and honest.
If you are exploring the Poipu area or heading back from a morning session at the beach, skip the air-conditioned chains. Grab a bowl, find a patch of shade, and enjoy a meal that defines the rugged, delicious spirit of Hawaiian barbecue.

Tasty meal with a simple menu. The Hawaiian pork, BBQ sauce and pineapple are a great mix! Two types of BBQ sauce - sweet or spicy. Both are delicious!

This place was soooo good!! I got my food and didn’t know if I’d be able to eat the whole thing but downed it so fast cause it was amazing! I got the pineapple infused sausage with sweet and spicy sauce and my husband got the grilled cheese sandwich with pork. We loved it!

Lets GRIND. From one porker to another, believe me. The best lunch spot for a quick, reasonably priced, and good meal. Unique sandwich combinations make this place one of a kine. (see what I did there) Check out the crazy chicken that was cruising around. Say hi to him for me when you are there. If you're visiting Kauai and somehow leave without eating at Porky's, I'm pretty sure that's a felony in at least three Hawaiian counties. Not really a low calorie meal, but you could make it that way if you wanted to. I ordered one of their famous creations piled high with slow-roasted pork, and from the first bite I immediately understood why this place has such a cult following. The combination of smoky, juicy pork, grilled sausage, fresh toppings, and perfectly balanced sauces is the kind of thing that makes you stop talking mid-sentence and just stare into the distance while processing what just happened. My wife looked at me after her first bite and we both had the same expression: "Well... every other lunch on this trip is now competing for second place." The pork was ridiculously tender, the sausage had incredible flavor, the bread held everything together without falling apart, and somehow every ingredient managed to shine without overpowering the others. It's one of those rare meals where you can tell they didn't accidentally make something great—they've spent years perfecting it. What makes Porky's even better is that it doesn't try to be fancy. It's a food cart. No white tablecloths. No elaborate presentation. No chef explaining the life story of the pickle. Just unbelievably good food served by people who clearly care about what they're doing. The atmosphere around the cart is exactly what you want on Kauai: relaxed, friendly, and full of happy people making involuntary food noises. I also appreciated that this wasn't some tourist-trap gimmick. You see locals eating here. You see visitors eating here. You see people taking pictures of their food and then immediately forgetting about social media because they're too busy devouring it. Honestly, if Porky's opened a location in California, it would probably destroy my diet, my wallet, and several personal relationships because I'd be there constantly. We've eaten at a lot of places across Hawaii, and Porky's is one of those rare spots that actually exceeds the hype. It wasn't just one of the best meals we had on Kauai—it was one of the most memorable meals of the entire trip. Do yourself a favor: 1. Go hungry. 2. Order whatever sounds good. 3. Ignore anyone who tells you they're not that hungry and don't need their own meal. They are wrong. Or eat their meal for them when they dont finish. 4. Consider ordering extra because you're going to be thinking about it later. Mahalo to the entire Porky's team. You gave us one of our favorite memories from Kauai, and we'll absolutely be back the next time we're on the island. 🌴🌭🐖 Aloha and see you again soon! 🐖🌭🌴

We came here on a recommendation from friends. The Kailua pork wis so good. I had the number 4, which was Kalyan pork served with a sweet chili sauce caramelized onions and fresh pineapple bits served with jasmine rice. My wife ordered the number 3, a Kailua pork grilled cheese sandwich and a side of Mac & cheese. Both were delicious in their own way. The Kailua pork is spot on! Everything was delicious. Decent portions for $21. Drink included.

Must try for awesome Kalua pork dishes! I had the #4 - pork on rice, and my wife had the #1 - sausage dog with pork on top. We shared with our toddlers and had more than enough food. Pork was nice and lean, which I love compared to how fatty some is. Flavor was spot on for the pork and coconut rice. We both got their spicy sauce, but dang was it good. My wife got the chips as her side and we ate everyone one of those too. Interior was super clean and nice and the staff was all nice. If our hotel wasn’t as far away as it is, we’d be going back to try the other two item on the menu..matter of fact, I might make the drive anyway haha Nice switch up for a classic Hawaiian food, give it a go!
