About
A Kailua Staple for Fresh Hawaiian Seafood
Stepping into this Windward O'ahu hotspot feels like walking into a classic coastal surf shack, stripped of pretension and focused entirely on the catch of the day. Located in the heart of Kailua’s breezy commercial district, the space is defined by its high ceilings, communal wooden picnic-style benches, and the persistent, appetizing scent of mesquite-grilled fish wafting from the open kitchen.
The Catch of the Day
The menu is straightforward, prioritizing quality over complexity. You order at the counter, choose your fish—often Ono, Opah, or Mahi-Mahi—and select how you want it prepared: blackened, grilled, or sautéed. The fish tacos and the signature cajun-seared platters are legendary for their crisp exterior and buttery, flaky centers. It is the kind of place where locals head after a morning surf at Kailua Beach, meaning you will likely be sharing a table with sandy-footed families and barefoot hikers.
A Local Rhythm
Be prepared for a bustling, high-energy environment. During the peak lunch rush, the line can snake out the door, and the interior can get quite noisy as the kitchen crew keeps the pace fast. Grab a cold locally brewed beer or a fountain soda, find a spot on the benches, and enjoy the authentic, no-frills service that defines this island institution. It is not a place for a quiet, intimate candlelit dinner, but rather a functional, delicious sanctuary for anyone craving high-quality seafood in a relaxed Kailua setting.

Lovely fish restaurant. Everything was quite good. I got the ono fillet sauteed, and it had a wonderful buttery flavor, although more subtle than I would prefer. Service was fairly quick and restaurant was clean. Get the house potatoes for your side, they're fantastic!!

No wait at lunch on a Friday in early February. Food was really good, decently priced, large portions. The place is very clean and quite contemporary. There are plenty of options of food for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend the fish dishes. Tacos are good as well. Quesadillas are nothing to write home about.

We decided to stop here for lunch and really enjoyed it. You can sit outside, which we did, because the weather was just perfect-sunny but not hot. I loved the fried calamari, really crispy and tasty. The food overall has that nice homemade flavor, fresh and satisfying. Such a great spot in Kailua with a relaxed vibe and even chickens and birds walking around
