Mojito Cafe Hawaii
About
A Slice of Havana on the Windward Coast
Stepping into Mojito Cafe feels less like walking into a storefront in Kailua and more like stumbling upon a family-run kitchen in Old Havana. The air is thick with the aroma of slow-simmered garlic, sautéed onions, and the sharp, bright scent of freshly muddied lime. It is the kind of place that ignores the trendiness of the surrounding shopping centers, favoring plastic tablecloths and high-energy Latin rhythms that bounce off the walls.
The Heart of Cuban Soul Food
The kitchen stays true to its roots with a menu that avoids unnecessary fusion. The Ropa Vieja—shredded flank steak slow-cooked in a rich tomato base—is the undisputed star, falling apart at the touch of a fork. If you visit, order the Cuban sandwich; the bread is pressed until it achieves a crisp, audible crunch that gives way to layers of savory ham and roasted pork. Do not expect to rush through your meal. The service matches the relaxed, island-meets-Caribbean pace, so bring a friend who is content to linger over another glass of their signature mint-infused drink.
Know Before You Go
This serves as a grounded escape for those craving bold, savory comfort food after a morning at Kailua Beach. Be mindful that seating is intimate and the space can get quite loud when the house music hits its stride. Parking in the immediate vicinity can be tricky during peak lunch hours, so arrive early or prepare to walk a block through the neighborhood. It is the perfect spot for casual diners who prioritize deep, authentic flavor profiles over white-tablecloth pretense.

We’ve been here twice since they opened and it has been delicious each time. The food is on point, creative, flavorful and a new addition to Oahu. I love the fact that there are plenty small plate options as I like to mix and match dishes with my friends and family when going out. This way you can try a little of everything! The restaurant had a lovely, fun, spicy vibe and exudes happiness and positivity. The owners a friendly and are open to feedback. This will definitely be one of our regular places to go!

Me and my friend had lunch here today, their opening day I believe. We were greeted with such niceness. No complaints on the service or the atmosphere! The owners were so nice, they came and chatted with us. Loved the food, I’m glad they were willing and open to any critiques on any items. I can’t wait to see how the restaurant will grow and become a great place for the island to enjoy some Latin Cuisine in Kailua. 🍽 we will definitely return.
