Faria Hawaii
About
A Taste of Kailua Tradition
Stepping into Faria Hawaii feels like a quiet homecoming tucked away in the Windward side of Oahu. This spot eschews the polished, tourist-heavy aesthetics of the resort districts, opting instead for a straightforward, no-frills environment where the focus remains entirely on the plate. The interior is humble and functional, often humming with the sound of local conversation and the sharp click of utensils against ceramic, creating a communal backdrop that defines the relaxed Kailua lifestyle.
The Culinary Focus
The kitchen leans into the roots of local comfort food, serving up generous portions that echo traditional plate lunch culture. You will find staples like savory kalua pork, rich in smoky undertones, and fresh fish preparations that reflect the daily haul from island waters. Every element, from the perfectly steamed scoops of white rice to the house-made macaroni salad, is crafted with a consistency that keeps the neighborhood regulars coming back weekly. If you have a palate for the authentic flavor profiles that shaped modern Hawaiian cuisine, this is a fundamental stop.
What to Expect
This is a destination for those who prioritize food over fanfare. While the parking lot can get congested during the lunch rush—a small price to pay for genuine island cooking—the service is brisk and focused. Whether you are grabbing a quick midday meal before heading to the nearby beaches or picking up a box to-go for a sunset dinner, the experience is uncomplicated. It serves as an essential anchor for the Kailua community, offering a reliable, savory reflection of local tastes without pretense.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Absolute Gem! Incredible Food & Unmatched Warmth If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience that feels like a warm embrace, look no further. From the moment we walked in, the owners and the staff made us feel less like customers and more like old friends invited over for an intimate dinner party. 🍷 The Food & Drink The culinary execution here is flawless. We started with a beautifully poured, rich red wine that paired perfectly with the meal. The standout dishes were an absolute masterclass in flavor: The Seafood Stew: A rich, deeply savory broth packed with perfectly cooked seafood, served with a piece of beautifully crusty artisanal bread that was mandatory for soaking up every last drop. The charred lemon on top added the perfect bright, smoky punch. The Cod/Potato Dish: Topped with sliced hard-boiled eggs, fresh herbs, and a wonderfully textured crumb, it was comforting, traditional, and packed with flavor, balanced beautifully by a side of crisp, fresh greens. 🤝 The Service & People The service here is impeccable, but what truly sets this place apart is the people. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, navigating the floor with genuine smiles and a passion for the menu. The owners themselves are the heart and soul of the restaurant. They take the time to float around the room, genuinely "talking story" with guests, sharing the inspiration behind the dishes, and making sure everyone has a glass full of wine and a smile on their face. Their dedication to creating a clean, welcoming, and beautifully organized space shows in every single detail. 📋 The Verdict It is rare to find a place that strikes the perfect balance of elite-tier cuisine and a down-to-earth, deeply hospitable atmosphere. Whether you’re stopping in for a relaxed date night or a long evening of chatting over great wine, the owners and their incredible team will make sure it’s unforgettable. We will be back again and again!

Friendly staff and diverse traditional Portuguese cuisine. Cute interior dining room and great wine/cocktail list. Try their bread basket, so good! Also the Piri Piri chicken.

I felt like I stepped into a quinta in Portugal when I came through the cork clad door of Faria. The decor is quaint, thoughtful, and perfectly Portuguese, with authentic Fado music playing gently in the background. Every dish was extremely flavorful, and I was excited to see that they have some Portuguese wine options, as well as even home made ginjinha which was delicious. This is an absolute must visit, and a great addition to the dining options in Kailua!
