California Pizza Kitchen (609 Kailua Rd Ste 110 Unit 110/111)
About
A Relaxed Hub in the Heart of Windward Oahu
Located right in the center of the bustling Kailua shopping district, this California Pizza Kitchen serves as a go-to spot for those transitioning from a morning at Kailua Beach to an afternoon of errands. The interior carries that signature airy, open-concept design that reflects the laid-back rhythm of life on the windward side of the island.
Fresh Flavors with a Local Twist
While the menu anchors itself in classic hearth-baked pizzas, the kitchen excels at balancing reliable favorites with seasonal variety. You will find the iconic Original BBQ Chicken Pizza—a staple that put the brand on the map—sitting comfortably alongside lighter, fresh-pressed juices and hearth-roasted vegetable medleys. The scent of charred dough and bubbling mozzarella greets you the moment you walk through the doors, a welcome contrast to the salt air outside.
The Kailua Experience
This location is particularly well-suited for families or groups who need a dependable space after a day of coastal exploration. The seating is spacious, though the open layout can amplify the volume during peak dinner hours, creating a lively, energetic buzz. A minor quirk for first-time visitors is the parking situation; while there is ample space in the surrounding commercial complex, navigating the busier weekend hours requires a bit of patience. Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch before heading back to the sand or settling in for a steady dinner of artisan flatbreads and craft cocktails, it remains a consistent pillar of the Kailua dining scene.

Okay I'm usually a CPK fan, my children love their mac and cheese, i enjoy their cocktails and apps. However this past Thursday (5/14/26) was not the best dine-in experience. Off the bat, we walk in and it was basically empty-there were one 2-person party outside and then 4-person party inside. Being seated, it took a bit to receive our bread and waters. We check out the menu-the usual menu book that we've seen many times with a few added menu items. The waitress (can't remember her name-she had short brunette hair and glasses) comes to take our drink and food order. After drinks and begin ordering our entrees, My husband and Dad are a red meat eaters and will usually order their WC burger or their Ribeye. She informs us that they discontinued both of those items. We were very bothered by that. We find other items to order. The waitress barely checks on us while we wait on our food. We start getting our food but another waiter asked if we're doing okay with our food. We're almost done wrapping up our food and the waitress still hasn't checked on us. She and 2 other workers are near the bar chatting. We finally get her attention, so we can have a few takeout boxes and our check. We paid and left.

Genuinely one of the most hilariously, truly ludicrously bad service experiences I've had at any restaurant in my 40+ years walking this planet. I'd struggle to think of anything about the experience that didn't go laughably terribly. I'll run it down to give a flavor: - From the instant our waiter rolled up to our table, it seemed apparent from his general 'tude that he didn't give even the remotest shit about his job or whether even one thing went right with his tables. This impression was confirmed many times, as he was first unable to say what bottled beers were available, immediately got one of our party's order wrong (until I jumped in to correct it, though more on what we actually received below), and visited our table maybe 3 times in the hour+ we sat mostly waiting in the restaurant, wondering what in the world was going on. Complaints, as they piled up, were met with a sort of "yep, that'll happen, what can ya do..." dismissiveness. - One of our party ordered a well gin and tonic. The bar was "out of tonic." Let that sink in. A bar. Was out of... Tonic water. - Getting drinks out (two bottled beers, as the only well drink was cancelled, as noted, when the exotic ingredient of tonic water was out of stock) took 15-20 minutes. And waters ordered for the table still didn't arrive even at that point, until we pointed out they were missing. - The chips and guac appetizer came out 10-15 minutes after the drinks, pushing 30+ minutes since we ordered. - About 25 mins later, after at least three other tables that were seated around us after we were were seated were served and nearly finishing their food, the first entrees arrived. 2 of 5 guests got something in this round, about 20 minutes before food started to trickle out piecemeal for the other 3 people at the table. Both kids' pizzas were not the toppings they'd ordered (those were still in the oven after being "remade" for some reason (??), so they just brought out pepperoni?), and the BBQ chicken pizza (photo attached) was burnt to a rock-hard crisp. - As we continued to wait for the correct pizzas that never came before we left, I captured the attached shot of pigeons chowing down on the scraps left on the uncleared table next to ours. Eventually, we left before eating really any of the entrees. The manager wrote off the entire meal after one of our party complained about our experience, which I guess was better than the alternative? But we left after more than an hour having still not eaten most of the meal we'd gone out for, which didn't make for a great family dining experience overall. More than anything, though, I just felt kind of ... sad to even be there, putting up with the abject, unrepentant awful service? It felt genuinely embarrassing to be sitting there with my family and thinking "welp, I guess this sad scene is what a Friday night out looks like for us now..." When service is so bad it starts to hit your self-esteem for even being there and subjecting your family to it -- well, that's a new dining low for me. Stay tuned for the restaurant's corp speak rebuttal to this post, which (if replies to the other negative reviews here are any indication) is surely coming. CPK Kailua: just let both of us retain our last shred of dignity and make your reply an unqualified mea culpa, please. Both sides know what went down tonight, let's just write it off and try to let the healing start.

They need to go ahead and close this location permanently. The service is horrible, the food is horrible and the restaurant is ALWAYS FILTHY! I have been here maybe 5 times and have NEVER seen the bar area clean. Its always disgusting and has fruit flys flying all over the food and garnishes for the drinks. Today, I was hoping for a better experience but no. They are consistent with their bs. I was on this side of town and decided to give them another try since its been about a year since my last visit to this location. I must note that i go to the ala moana location 3-5 times a week. (they rock) I came in and it took a while to get the bar tenders attention although there were only 2 other people at the bar and they were finished eating. She said she would be right with me and took her time. I was patient as I already knew what i wanted. She came to take my order and I ordered the exact same thing i order in town. Buffalo cauliflower well done no celery salad and white corn guacamole with no corn and a cucumber reviver. She said they dont do the guac without corn it's premade . I know they do it fresh each time so i asked her to check . She went to ask and of course they do! Fast forward (Bartender) goes MIA never brings me a drink never offers any bread and my food ends up coming out and I’m watching it. Sit on the counter with flies on it. I also watched the young man that’s preparing my guac drop chips all over the place and then pick them up and put them back on my plate as he’s wiping his butt and his back with his gloves and then continuing to touch other peoples food without changing his gloves or washing his hands. when the Waitress finally comes back, I asked her if that is my food and she asked the guy behind her. He said yes and she said well. Can you give it to her when you get a chance after my food was already sitting there for probably about seven minutes and then I looked at my food and noticed that there was no breading on the cauliflower. The cauliflower is buffalo cauliflower and it always comes fried with breading on it. None of my cauliflower had breading. The cauliflower had just been raw cauliflower dipped in grease. It also came out with the scallions a.k.a. the celery salad on it and my guacamole came with corn in it, and so the entire order was incorrect. The bartender goes and get a manager. The manager comes back and I ask the manager if they are making the cauliflower in a different way because it’s always come breaded, she said no it is supposed to come breaded, but that she doesn’t know why they didn’t bread it would I like to order something else I told her no I would like to order what I ordered and have it prepared properly. I’ve never had buffalo cauliflower brought to me without the breading on it. Then I told her about the guacamole and the fact that I did not even get my drink until after I got my food the bartender tried to hurry up and throw me a drink together and I never got any bread so I just told her you know what it’s OK that’s it. I’m gonna leave because everything was made incorrectly. The service was horrible and the restaurant was filthy. No thank you. NEVER RETURNING!

Nikki was our server and she was absolutely amazing! Restaurant itself was a lot smaller than the Kahala location but food was just as amazing. Highly recommend the Thai Chicken Pizza! If you found this review helpful, please like and follow me! MAHALO~

As of October 30th 2025 around 12-12:30pm I just want to thank a bunch to the lady waitress for her service. Didn’t get the chance to get her name but she was very patient, nice & spot on with reminding my family & I that food is on the way. As we arrived, we’ve been told short on staff & food will take time. Timing on food arrival was quick actually! Coming from the west of kapolei knowingly there is a cpk in that area, This kailua location is the only restaurant my family & I prefer. Love my hometown.

When we arrived we were hot and outside was really hot. Inside had 3 tables open and we were told only outside was open. Our grandmother is 95yrs old, why the heck would we want her to get heat exhaustion from sitting outside 😐 😑 I told the guy no were sitting inside its too hot for her and he said no seats inside, until I pointed out the 3 tables open....then he proceeded to say oh ok you can sit here and we can just add a chair to the outside of booth, yup that would be fine, regardless we would've all fit in a booth anyways. All the food we ordered was really tasteful with the serving size portioned perfect. I didnt care for our server, I felt like he was a real rush in service. He seemed very uptight, maybe it was the day, but dude we just wanted to relax and enjoy our lunch without the rush to order. Wish we had a different server and this place needs more space, the space in there is way to small, not a good place for bigger people to sit an enjoy comfortably. Its even hard to walk out touching someone's side accidentally.

My daughter and I needed a light / early dinner so we only got the White corn guacamole and chips, Hawaiian pizza and I think my drink was the Lime margarita. The guacamole had a few thick pieces, whoever mashed it seemed like they were in a rush. It did taste good and seasoned well. The Hawaiian pizza was baked perfectly. My drink was good, but didn’t taste like there was any alcohol in it. We appreciated the complimentary bread, truly was a nice touch. The server that was helping us seemed a bit off. We wanted to ask for the menu to order more since my husband joined us but she was nowhere to be found. By the time she came, we just didn’t bother ordering. She also took forever to bring us the bill. The place wasn’t as busy and other servers seem to be engaging fine with their customers. Overall I would recommend coming here. The menu has a good selection and most of their food is good.

We had a group of 9 people. Called ahead and made a reservation. Even though they were well understaffed we had our table within 15minutes of our booking. Food was really good and prices were on par with other restaurants. Kids had free soda refills. Had BBQ chicken pizza, Salmon, 5 cheeses pizza 🍕, the works pizza, kids Hawaiian pizza and some drinks. Service was slightly slow due to staffing issues but the all restaurants in Waikiki had this issue. Food was really good!! I would recommend them.

TL;DR: None of our food was hot: barely above room temperature. My wife and I ordered takeout from here on Friday 1/8/21. First time ever ordering food from this particular CPK location. Ordered online at about 5pm for pickup at 6pm. Upon arrival, this place was packed! All the tables were full up, and there were a significant amount of people waiting to be seated. You could barely even tell there's a global pandemic going on with the amount of people this close together. Brought our food back home, which keep in mind is only a 4 minute drive. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, avocado spring rolls, Caesar salad with blackened salmon, a wild mushroom pizza and we received complimentary bread with olive oil as a dip. EVERYTHING was barely above room temperature. Only the spinach artichoke dip, which was probably the best thing we ordered, had some heat left to it. Seemed like they cooked our food when we placed the online order, rather than making it close to when we were going to pick it up. The complimentary bread was absolutely awful. It was so cold and hard that it was difficult to even chew; my jaw was sore after only one small piece. The salmon in the Caesar was severely overcooked and dry. The avocado spring rolls had nice flavor and crunch, but were oily. Lastly, the wild mushroom pizza was tasty but the temperature issues made the crust on the outside hard to chew. Flavors were overall good, but the temperature of our meal made our experience truly disappointing. Maybe things would be better if we dined in rather than takeout, but with those kind of crowds during a pandemic, I'll pass for now.

Incredibly yummy pizza ever! I can still feel the tastiness of their house specialty pizza. Also love the way staff treat customers- like we are family and friends. Good food, great service. If Google allows me to give more stars, I would definitely give 10 right away!
