About
A Maui Near the Airport
When you are navigating the hustle of Kahului and find yourself craving high-quality Japanese flavors, Sushi Kochi offers a refreshing departure from standard roadside fare. This mobile kitchen serves up restaurant-grade rolls without the wait times of a formal sit-down establishment. You will find it tucked away near the industrial corridors of town, making it a favorite for locals grabbing a quick, elevated lunch break.
Crafting Hawaii’s Favorite Rolls
The menu highlights the freshness of local catch. The Spicy Tuna Roll is a local staple, prepared with a clean heat that doesn’t overpower the buttery texture of the fish. If you prefer texture, the tempura rolls provide a satisfying audible crunch that contrasts perfectly with the vinegared sushi rice. The chefs emphasize precision, often hand-slicing fish to order, which means you might spend a few extra minutes waiting in the sun—but the result is significantly better than anything you would find in a grocery store grab-and-go case.
The Casual Island Experience
Eating at Sushi Kochi is an exercise in authentic island efficiency. Expect to walk up to the window, place your order, and find a spot to eat in your car or at one of the nearby benches as you enjoy the breeze coming off the harbor. It is not about white tablecloths or mood lighting; it is about the smell of seasoned rice and fresh ocean spray. While the parking lot can get tight during the noon rush when the island workforce flocks here for their fix, the speed of the service keeps the line moving. It is the ideal stop for anyone traversing the central valley who refuses to compromise on quality just because they are dining from a food truck.

Okay where to start? It took roughly 30-40 mins to get food. I understand it was a busy day, but surprisingly long to get sushi. And then when we started to take a bite into it, we got to know why. Everything was defrosted and reheated. For sushi that is really really dangerous. We bit into half reheated sushi. Crunching into the ice (pic attached of the sushi). Bit into half reheated seaweed salad. The Spam was half reheated. We really want to encourage local business to do better, but not at the expense of customer health :( . Do better. Please

Ive been to this food truck park several times and each time this truck has never been open. I finally was able to try it and was not disappointed. I ordered the Unagi Donburi because theres a picture of it on the side of the truck and it looks delicious. Its a rice bowl which comes with eel and a side avocado salad. Everything tased amazing. The Eel was perfectly seasoned, the sauce was tasty and the avocado salad was fresh. I would definitely order this again.

Very disappointed. Low quality with typical pricing if you were at a nice sushi restaurant. I spent $50 on 3 rolls all of which were less quality than grocery store sushi. Wasabi was dry and hard, the lemons on the sunset roll were not thinly sliced like a good roll would have...shrip was dry and chewy, it was just all a bad experience.
