Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill (1 Kahului Airport Rd Kahului Airport)
About
Pre-Flight Island Flavors
If you find yourself navigating the busy terminals of Kahului Airport, Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill offers a necessary escape from the sterile environment of departure gates. Founded by rock legend Sammy Hagar, this spot brings a touch of Cabo and Hawaii fusion right to the edge of the runway. It is the go-to landing zone for travelers looking to squeeze one last taste of island life into their itinerary.
A Soundtrack for Travelers
The atmosphere leans heavily into a relaxed rock-n-roll aesthetic, paired with the persistent hum of jet engines and the bustle of commuters. It’s loud, it’s lively, and it captures the chaotic energy of a major travel hub. The decor features memorabilia that nods to Hagar’s music career, creating a visual backdrop that is distinctly different from your average airport terminal eatery. You will hear the clinking of glasses competing with the overhead announcements, which adds to the frantic, fleeting nature of the experience.
Signature Island Comforts
The menu leans into casual, crowd-pleasing fare. You can expect a variety of burgers and island-inspired plates, with the Sammy’s Beach Bar Mai Tai being a standout for those looking to start their vacation—or extend their stay—with a heavy pour of rum. The food is straightforward, intended for quick service when you have a flight to catch. While the seating can feel a bit snug as luggage carts maneuver through the aisles, the convenience of being steps away from your gate makes it a practical choice for anyone stuck in transit. It’s an ideal stop for solo travelers looking to kill time or groups wanting a final toast before takeoff.

DISGUSTINGLY HIGH PRICES!! Truly ridiculous to charge $28.99 for a burger at the airport as people are just trying to get to their destination and get a little hungry!! The food was just average and the top bun was WAY to thick!! Service was decent. STAY AWAY if concerned about $$. We were deeply disappointed how much we had to pay just for a buyer with fries. We got a water just to keep the price down....

Server pressured us to tip 22% on a **takeout** order, then turned cold when we declined. We were already exhausted from a 7-hour flight delay — not the experience we needed. We did go back and leave extra cash, but the damage was done. Food was fine. Service was not. -------------------------------------------------- Full story below -------------------------------------------------- We were stranded at OGG for 7 hours due to a flight delay and used airline vouchers to grab takeout from this restaurant. After paying, we rounded up, a gesture we felt was appropriate for a takeout order with no table service. The server then pointed to the 22% tip prompt on the receipt and indicated we should tip that amount. When we explained we were getting takeout, the attitude immediately changed. We later went back and left an additional $4 in cash to smooth things over, but the experience left a bad taste. Tipping culture is a personal choice, and pressuring customers, especially exhausted travelers dealing with a long delay, is not good hospitality. The food was fine, but the interaction made an already stressful day worse.

Great meal before a flight. Nachos and longboard on tap. Then saw the Sammy Hagar pictures and video screen and realized this is his branded restaurant. So cool.

A nice option (and the only one in my opinion) for a good sit down meal in the Maui airport. Nice atmosphere that doesn't feel like an airport, great service and tasty food. Enjoyed the chicken Caesar and beach salad with very good chimichurri dressing.

Great experience, nice and convenient spot. They have a big TV that will play football games. Mary was a great server, and overall the service was awesome, would recommend. We also tried the nachos which were quite good. They could use some extra chips on the side though.

A busy bar & grill. Breakfast served until 10 AM local. Lunch and dinner is served after that. The bar and grill is a good place to get something to drink and/or eat before departing on your flight assuming you have AT LEAST an hour before boarding. The staff is friendly and hustle about. They all have many guest to serve on normal travel days. During peak travel seasons or when flights are delayed, it can get very busy and the service is more perfunctory and less social. The food is adequate. It's not memorable, not fancy, but it is filling. The tables are quite close together. That, added with the luggage people haul around, it can get very tight in the restaurant. Keep that in mind.

Was not too happy with what I ordered. The burger was overpriced and overcooked. The bun was stale. The fries were weak and the meal was lukewarm. It was too late to send back because I had a flight to catch. Being airport food is no excuse for bad food. Sammy, you got me singing the blues after my Maui trip was such a rush.

Right in the airport after security before walking into the gate areas or before the final carry on check point. this place is a seat your self restaurant that was extremely busy and difficult to find seating. No greetings, no hello’s or Aloha’s here. We ordered a couple martini’s that were not worth the money at all. Kind of a Denny’s feel. You can order yourself using the QR code labeled on the table or catch the waiter running by. Not a quick stop so plan a little extra time to find seating and eating. Surprisingly the food was really good, even the presentation was much better than expected. Considering the seat yourself and busy crowd, worn tables and chairs we did not expect great food but the food was tasty and worth the somewhat high prices. this place seems to owned by Sammy Hagar from Van Halen and worth a try. I recommend trying this place out, just plan a little extra time and don’t get frustrated with the seating situation.

While waiting for our flight, we tried the Cuban sandwich, which was fantastic! We also enjoyed a Mango Cart beer, which always hits the spot. It’s a great place for a quick bite at the airport, great ambiance and the service was excellent—especially the friendly bartender.
