About
A Taste of Local Aiea Tradition
When you find yourself cruising through the heart of Aiea and the unmistakable aroma of kiawe-smoked meat hits the breeze, you have likely arrived at M & M BBQ. This is not a place for white tablecloths or complex tasting menus; it is a straightforward, no-nonsense spot where the plates are heavy and the flavors are deep. The kitchen specializes in authentic Hawaiian-style plate lunches that define the local comfort food scene.
What to Expect on Your Plate
The menu centers on robust, fire-grilled classics. Locals consistently swear by the BBQ chicken and short ribs, which carry that essential charred, smoky profile only achieved through high-heat grilling. Expect your main proteins to be served alongside the standard island staples: a generous scoop of creamy mac salad and two scoops of steamed white rice. It is the kind of hearty lunch that keeps you fueled for a long afternoon at the nearby Pearl Harbor historical sites or a day of shopping at the stadium.
The Neighborhood Spot Vibe
Walking into M & M BBQ feels like stepping into a piece of Aiea’s working-class culinary history. The space is unassuming and compact, often buzzing with the chatter of residents on their lunch break. One thing to keep in mind: during the peak midday rush, the seating area can get quite packed and the parking lot requires a bit of patience as vehicles navigate the tight spaces. However, the quick service makes it an excellent choice for a grab-and-go meal to enjoy at a nearby park. If you appreciate honest food prepared with consistency, this neighborhood staple hits the mark every time.

Went here as overflow for young BBQ. Ordered the fried chicken plate. Delicious. Good portions and good rice and macaroni salad. This is a great plate lunch place.

Tried the sweet & sour spareribs for $11.90 and found it to be delicious and they gave a lot. The lady working was very friendly and sweet. This is definitely a hidden gem.

This is the perfect hidden food place that locals go to. Good food, good prices and the service is practically non existent. Meaning, it's 99% take out. There is a small table outside but that's why it's cool. No nonsense food at a good price. I highly recommend the Bento #1, the Katsu and the fried chicken.
