Leonard's Pearlridge Malasada Mobile
About
A Sweet Tradition on the Move
Parked conveniently at the Pearlridge Center, this mobile outpost of the iconic Leonard's Bakery brings a slice of Kapahulu history directly to Aiea. As you approach the truck, the air carries the unmistakable, intoxicating scent of frying dough dusted in granulated sugar. It is a sensory staple of the island, drawing locals and visitors alike who crave that specific contrast: a light, pillowy interior encased in a golden, slightly crisp exterior.
The Malasada Experience
Whether you prefer the classic plain malasadas, coated generously in sugar, or opt for the decadence of custard-filled varieties like haupia or chocolate, the consistency is exactly what you expect from a family-run institution dating back to 1952. The fillings are thick, cool, and provide a perfect temperature contrast to the warm, freshly fried dough. Because these are prepared on-site, the wait times can fluctuate depending on the rush, but there is something inherently satisfying about snagging a bag while still steaming.
Planning Your Visit to Pearlridge
Navigating the parking lot around the center can be a bit of a maze, especially during peak weekend hours, so factor in a little extra time to weave through the crowd. This is an ideal stop for those needing a sugar fix after a day of shopping or anyone looking for a quick, authentic Hawaiian treat without trekking into town. Grab a dozen, find a shady spot nearby, and enjoy them immediately—they simply don't hold their signature texture for long, and honestly, you won't want to wait anyway.

Best ones in the island we tried! Worth the effort to find a location. The employees are super nice. Quick fulfillment of our order! No doughy centers. They sell over 1k a day at this location

Came here for the first time. The trucks definitely beats going to the actually store where the line is endless and the parking is horrendous. When I arrived, there was no line. Ordered a dozen malasadas (half original and half cinnamon). Both are my favorite flavors and both came out huge and super warm. Staff are friendly and fast. Tons of parking as it’s located along the corner of the large parking lot across the old Sears.

Leonard’s Bakery Malasada Truck is a must try if you are hunting down fresh malasadas on the island. They come out hot, soft, and coated in sugar just like you would hope. The classic malasadas are the best choice. Simple, warm, and perfect with a cup of coffee. The filled ones look tempting, but the cream versions are honestly so messy and packed with filling that it is hard to enjoy them without wearing half of it. They taste good, but the classic is the way to go. One small tip. If you order fewer than four malasadas they give them to you in a bag instead of the signature pink box, so plan accordingly if you want the full experience. Overall the truck is a quick and easy way to grab one of Hawaii’s most famous treats. Stick with the classics and you will not be disappointed.
