Chez Monique
About
A Taste of Home in Aiea
Stepping into Chez Monique offers a refreshing departure from the standard dining scene in Aiea. This is a space where the aroma of slow-cooked aromatics greets you at the door, signaling a kitchen that prioritizes patience over speed. The dining room balances casual comfort with an intimate edge, making it an ideal hideaway for those looking to escape the bustle of the nearby shopping districts while remaining centrally located in the community.
The Culinary Approach
The menu leans heavily into soul-satisfying preparations. You will find that the kitchen excels at transforming humble ingredients into deeply flavorful compositions. Regulars often gravitate toward their signature braised specialties, where the meat pulls apart with the slightest nudge of a fork. The sauces are rich, often reduced for hours, and carry a complexity that reflects a genuine devotion to traditional culinary techniques.
What to Expect
The atmosphere hums with the clatter of china and animated conversations, contributing to a lively, unpretentious energy. It is a fantastic spot for a quiet weeknight dinner or a relaxed weekend meal with close friends. One minor detail to note: the interior layout is cozy, meaning during peak service hours, the noise level can climb, adding to the room's kinetic feel. Parking in the surrounding Pearl Ridge area can be a bit of a puzzle during lunch rushes, but the reward of a well-executed, soulful meal makes the minor search well worth the effort.

Fried chicken gizzards and Brisket Nacho was ok. Our server was friendly and checked up every 15 minutes. Came at a busy time with majority of tables reserved. The TVs were postponed awkwardly and our chair and table right in front of 2 TVs blocking people from viewing. Besides that it was a chill and spacious spot.

This my favorite bar and I come here often. Atmosphere is always solid and food is typically good for bar food. Service is normally solid but it has been hit or miss lately. I ordered the Party Nachos and it comes with brisket. Our Server not only forgot our drinks, but claimed the brisket was cooked in the ground beef that isn’t even listed. I’ve ordered it before but figured maybe something changed. In the end she pretty much forgot our table but I assume cause it got a bit busy. I’ll still come and recommend this bar but servers might be hit or miss. Pictures to show me looking for the brisket All of the Bartenders are 10/10!
