Former Aloha Fridays is Now Sunset Grill, Under new Ownership
Aloha Fridays was the restaurant at the Kona Coast Resort in Keauhou. Now under new ownership and management, the Sunset Grill is now run by two energetic and service minded entrepreneurs, John and Mike. The new enterprise is welcomed relief from the former owners who failed to demonstrate any appreciation toward their customers. Conversely, John and Mike go out of their way to please. We attended the blessing and opening day of the restaurant in February. While their menu is "limited" due to a kitchen that is not up to their standards, they have new equipment on order and hope to provide a full menu with exciting entrees in the short term. The poolside setting is still a relaxing venue. Music is provided by local musicians regularly and their bar is lively. We anticipate the new venture will be very successful, the food excellent and the service friendly.

When I spent my holiday in Hawaii I enjoyed going to Fridays. Great grilled food, Excellent friendly staff and super fuzzy beverages. Enjoy Fridays as a night outing.

Below average food, high prices
It appears that no one at this Kona Coast Resort property cares about quality on any level at this on site restaurant. The $16 catch of the day fish sandwich was not a total loss; the fish was moist and well prepared but the bun was the cheapest, most tasteless white bread available, the tomato had a big core in it and the side salad was sad and wilted while the french fries were cold and soggy. <br />You would think Wyndam would take advantage of the captured audience but one visit is about the limit for anyone who isn't desperate.
